Nothing can be printed at this point, until I press the resume button, or turn the printer off and back on, then it resets and works perfectly, in Windows. It will not print from DOS at all.. Trying to print from DOS causes the above situation to happen on every print attempt.
I must hit the resume button to get it to spit out each sheet I want printed. If I leave the printer alone, and don't press the resume button, it will reset itself and be fine in about 12 minutes, every time. Please Help!
Very annoying. Please give replies in simple as possible detail. I'm still learning a lot of the terminology. No problem Rick. I too have tried all that you have listed. At least 10 other people posted. It is indeed the strangest thing I ever saw. This happens if you turn on the printer first as soon as I hit the power switch to boot up.
Therefore, no drivers could be possibly loaded that soon. Even if you boot up and then turn on the printer, same thing although I didn't know the printer would reset itself after 12 minutes or so. I also find it strange that if you restart or even shut down completely, then start the computer back up, this doesn't happen. Only after the computer has been off overnight does this happen. Something must be "pinging" the LPT1 port at power on. This leads me to believe it has to do with the C and it's on board electronics.
By the way, I even ran a ground wire from the LPT1 port plug and this didn't help. Sorry this is so long but I would really like to know what the "cure" is for this. Joined Aug 2, Messages Hi, I just got to tell you. Then they came out with a upgraded driver, on the HP site It drove me crazy too, and I couldn't figure out why it would "convulse" at the moment the power switch on the computer was turned on I still don't understand that part but there's no question it was the driver Hope this helps.
Thanks Rich for sharing that info. Hopefully HP will do something like that about the C. It drives me nuts. As Seen On. Thanks again, Rick! I'm operating with Windows PROBLEM: When I turn the printer on, after booting the computer from a cold boot up usually after sitting off, over night, or for several hours it goes through a noisy ritual, grabs a piece of paper, and then stops in that position.
