DGCH is defintely my favorite of all the korean dramas i've watched even now! Still love it. I had no idea you were planning to do it! Thank you for the recap! Man, they all looked so young and fresh back then. I rewatched the series back in and it was still fresh and awesome. I think I appreciated it more the second time around. DGCH was probably like the 4th or 5th drama I've watched.
Sure the second leads could have used some work, but everything else came together to make this wonderful concoction. Also, I was totally haunted by the music- the sweet As One song with the really long name and that one really dramatic song that was so evocative of the epic nature of the Chun-hyung and Mong-ryong romance.
This was a romance that was years in the making. The payoff at the end was really good. The ending with the interspliced shots of their modern and ancient selves was beautiful. Oooh, I'm glad you guys decided to recap older classics of kdrama because I've wanted to watch them but got sidetracked by the newer dramas nowadays.
And also because yknow.. I wanted to "know them" so when things come up in conversations with fellow kdrama fans, I'm not just a "newbie" since I only know the newer stuff.. But this seems interesting! Will be looking forward to future recaps! Oohhh, just re-read the "first episode series" description I miss those days! Thank you for doing this! I agree with you on so many things, javabeans, but I will never understand your attraction to this drama. It was one of my earlier kdramas when I first got into them years ago , and I barely made it through. After the first few episodes, Chun-hyang lost all of her pluck, and the story became so repetitive and wearying. Wow it's been a while since I saw this drama. It's one of my favorites and I'm glad you decided to recap this. I'd watched it three years ago, and I just finished a marathon of the entire series again!
We were laughing and throwing things at the screen like nobody's business. It's always great fun! I have to admit, I couldnt finish this drama and I think you pointed out the reason why.
I didnt watch this until two years ago, after I had seen My Girl and many others, so it felt like things were being repeated. The acting was great and it was funny, but after the millionth time that noona caused a misunderstanding, I couldnt take anymore of it. Same reason why it was difficult to get through parts of My GF is a Gumiho I do adore Jae Hee's acting and stomached 11 episodes of Witch Yoo Hee just for him, I just wished that I could have watched this in 05 when it was first recommended to me.
I think I would have loved it. My first drama was Sorry, I Love You. Though I honestly wish I'd seen this instead, lol. Thanks for the recaps. Yay, you managed to resurrect this after all! Helps that the first episode really WAS a good one; a First Episode that set the standard for "how to set up plot and be hugely entertaining at the same time".
I was just thinking about DGCH recently. That it was one of my first reviews for Thundie's Prattle, and currently highlighted on our home page as my recommendation. Not terribly high-brow, eh? And the funny thing is, when people say "The plot was repetitive, Jae Hee over-acted, and the comedy was too broad", I don't even disagree! But for all its flaws, it was terribly fun and I loved it very very much and am still fond of it, so I shall hold my head up high.
My favorite line was always when she would say "mind ur own business" It sounds soooo funny the way she says it and he repeats it hahahaha. The story is great many different emotions played out amazingly , the chemistry is undeniable I actually wished the two could be together for real, at least at the time.
It's a drama that made me fall head over heels with K-dramas. The soundtrack is a great one too. I've watched it roughly 3 times already and I'm never bored! I always end up laughing my head off or crying like a baby, every time in the same scenes.
This drama never gets old. AMEN to what you have said. If you have watched it 3 times, i watched it the nth time. Lost count to how many time I have reminisced the chemistry of Chae young and Jae Hee.

A big hello from Canada. Find it so-so only cos its a bit draggy in the middle. Not just the mushy mushy soap opera stuff. My all time favorite.. This is a must watch drama! The female lead, Chae Young, is really beautiful. And tbe best thing of all, she can act. The male lead, Jae Hee, is cute and convincing too. In fact, I prefer him in this role rather than the one he acted in Witch Yoo Hee. Believe me, my sister did!!! All the good things have mention above, what I want to add to is, after I finish watching the drama, I get so addicted to the drama, it really drag me in to the movie, which tells me that its a perfect production.
Anyone just starting to go into korean dramas, this is the one to start with, it will make you go crazy for korean dramas. My best kdrama. Both my first and my favorite KDrama. Watching this series is totally worth it. I have nothing but praise for this show, and hope others can enjoy it as well.
